Nakshatra finder: find your birth star
Enter birth details to find your nakshatra, the star group the Moon was in when you were born. You also get its quarter (pada), its ruling planet and your Moon sign.
How this works
The Moon's path is split into 27 nakshatras, each 13 degrees 20 minutes wide and split into four quarters called padas. Your birth nakshatra is the one the Moon was in at the moment of birth. It sets the order of your dasha periods, it decides four of the eight factors in kundli matching, and many families use its pada to choose the first letter of a name.
The Moon moves through one nakshatra in about a day, so a birth time helps. Without one, the tool uses noon and tells you the result may be the nakshatra before or after.
