Birth charts
Jaimini Astrology API
Our Jaimini astrology API reads a birth chart in the Jaimini system, the second classical school of Vedic astrology. It uses the same planet positions as the rest of the API but reads them another way. You get the chara karakas, including the atmakaraka, the arudha padas, sign aspects, argala and chara dasha.

}What the Jaimini astrology API returns
- The seven chara karakas, from the atmakaraka (the planet that stands for the self) to the darakaraka (the spouse). They are set by each planet's degree, so they change with the birth time.
- The arudha padas A1 to A12, which show how each house appears to the outside world. A1 is the arudha lagna.
- Sign aspects (rashi drishti): signs looking at signs, with no planet involved. They are not the planet aspects that the kundli API returns.
- Argala: the pull on a sign from planets in the 2nd, 4th and 11th signs from it, and what blocks it, with short readings.
- Chara dasha: periods counted in signs, with their direction and every rule the API applied.
Jaimini works from the same chart as every other endpoint, so its positions always match the birth chart. The texts give several versions of chara dasha; this one uses the common Parashari form and states each rule, so it can be checked.
The rules behind it
The seven chara karakas are ranked by degree (JM-01). The arudha padas follow the classical count, with its two exceptions (JM-02). Signs aspect signs by group: movable, fixed and dual (JM-03). Argala uses three pairs of signs, not four (JM-04). Chara dasha is stated in full (JM-06). What the API does not do yet in Jaimini is listed too (JM-08).
