Birth details

How this works

A kundli is a map of the sky at the moment of birth, seen from the birth place. This tool sends the birth details to our astrology API, which works out where each planet was from NASA JPL planetary data. It then measures the positions in the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the standard for Vedic astrology, so most signs are one earlier than in a Western chart.

Houses are whole-sign: the rising sign is the first house, the next sign is the second, and so on. The rising sign moves through a whole sign in about two hours, so an accurate birth time matters. The time zone rules in force at that moment, including daylight saving time, are applied for you.

The same request, with your own API key, returns this chart as JSON for your app.

Build this into your app

This tool runs on our astrology API. Here is the request behind it, for the sample person in our docs:

curl
# John Doe, born Aug 15, 1990, 10:30 AM, New York
curl -X POST "https://qastage01.apiforastrology.com/api/gateway/v1/planets" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ASTROLOGY_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"year":1990,"month":8,"day":15,"hour":10,"minute":30,"second":0,"latitude":40.7128,"longitude":-74.006,"timezone":"America/New_York"}'
